From May 12th to 15th, 2022 we will travel to Austria‘s world famous capital, Vienna, and will be indulging in numerous enjoyable moments of pleasure. The program is beautiful and exquisite:

Thursday May 12th
We start in the late afternoon with our welcome ritual “Have a beer” in the 1873 HalleNsalon cocktail bar in the Hotel Imperial.

Then we take a historical tram ride in a “Bim” as the Viennese affectionately call their trams, which will take us on a very interesting tour of the rails along the magnificent Ringstrasse, past the palaces of the 19th-century affluent aristocracy and the bourgeoisie, as well as the State Opera, the Burgtheater, the Austrian Parliament and of course at the Vienna Hofburg, once the seat of the Austrian Emperor – today Austria’s Federal President Dr. Alexander van der Bellen.

In the evening, the Austrian beer pope Conrad Seidl will present the various ales of the Anglo-Saxon brewery 1516 Brewing Company with a pointed tongue and comment with his profound beer understanding. Matching dishes will of course be served.

Friday May 13th
In small groups we experience Vienna along various adventure tours and then meet up for lunch with boiled beef and beer.

In the evening we drive to the cosy Viennese suburb of Dornbach. The Salzburg Benedictine Abbey of Sankt Peter owns a winery there, a green jewel in the middle of the ever-expanding city. Truly an oasis of contemplation! A very special type of wine is still pressed there: the “Wiener mixed Set”, which we will of course taste. There is also a cultivated Heurigen snack. When the weather is warm, we will make ourselves comfortable in the green garden and listen to the duo of Schrammel music.

Saturday May 14th
On Saturday morning, the illustrious travel group splits up: the members of the BierConvent International come together in the ballroom of the Hotel Imperial for the general assembly. Contributions are permitted upon request, but are limited to a maximum of five minutes.

The accompanying persons and non-members visit the museum for contemporary art, the Albertina Modern. With the aperitif, a veteran concierge of the Hotel Imperial will talk insider‘s box and present his extensive knowledge of the secrets of many state guests and crowned heads.

The highlight of our trip to Vienna, however, is definitely – after a walk through the Princely Art Collection – the enthronement of our new members in the square hall of the splendidly renovated Viennese city palace of the reigning Prince of Liechtenstein. Finally, in the ballroom, we seal the ceremony with a festive dinner until shortly before midnight.

Sunday May 15th
We have breakfast together and then our paths will part again – until the next International Friendship Meeting in 2023 or maybe even a little earlier in a smaller group.

First of all, the motto is: See you in Vienna!
